During his eclectic career Larry Belling has been a press agent for Broadway shows and films, written and produced award-winning radio commercials in London and Los Angeles, consulted to tourism developers in the Seychelles Islands, written articles for numerous newspapers and magazines, narrated documentaries for the Discovery Channel, BBC and PBS, managed musical artists and record producers of ‘The Rolling Stones’ and ‘Pink Floyd,’ acted as creative director of a Silicon Valley multimedia company and handled online communications for Europe’s largest computer services company.
Born in Oakland, California and educated at the University of California at Berkeley, Larry’s early career was in Bay Area radio before moving to New York in the early 60s where he became an apprentice press agent. He spent most of the 70s in London in the music, publicity and commercial radio businesses. The 80s found him in Los Angeles running his commercials company which won numerous advertising awards for clients including Greenpeace, American Express, Molson Beers and most Hollywood movie studios.
He began developing Writer’s Dreamtools in the mid 80s creating five HyperCard stacks that were well reviewed by the New York Times and Mac computer press and which are the basis for the programmes online today at www.writersdreamtools.com
Now based in London, Larry has, in recent years, written four screenplays and a theatrical play, “Nurse Lily,” that has had successful readings in New York and California starring Stacy Keach. He is currently working on his second play.
Writer’s Dreamtools is a collection of tools to enhance writers’ creativity, spark ideas and fight writer’s block.
